The absorption of vitamin C might be negatively influenced by caffein. Heat and light can also affect the quality of the vitamin. Moreover, since it is water-soluble, we suggest taking it on an empty stomach, in the morning.

The acerola cherry and camu camu berry are among the fruits that have the highest natural concentration of vitamin C in the world. They contain high quality vitamin C, which is much better utilized by the body than its artificial sister, ascorbic acid.

Vitamin C is a water-soluble vitamin and is naturally excreted by the body in excess. Therefore, an overdose is virtually impossible.

A high vitamin C deficiency results in the “seafarer’s disease” scurvy. Sailors very often fell ill with it on their long sea voyages because they did not consume enough fresh fruit and vegetables.

The disease scurvy initially shows rather unspecific symptoms such as fatigue, weakness, muscle pain and immune deficiency. In an advanced stage, other symptoms may be added.
